Hello, everyone! I hope y’all are doing well.
I mentioned last week that the last week of July was spent trying to get back into a bit of a routine after going on vacation. As it turns out, this past week has been something of a decompression week. Between a fairly busy July, and what looks to be a fairly busy rest of August (and into September), this past week has mostly been relaxing (read: reading a lot of manga…). Other than that, I’ve started working on learning Irish again after I saw someone post a “100 day Gaeilge Challenge” on Twitter. Seemed like as good a time as any to dust off what I’ve learned in the past and try to learn a bit more. So far, this is Day 5.
Book 11 is progressing nicely, even though I did not get many words down this past week. I did write everyday, and I’ve definitely been thinking about upcoming stuff planned for the book and what kinds of implications those my have for my characters. I’m having some interesting interactions arise, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together once I get to that point in the story.
My reading for the week included finishing Garth Nix’s The Left-Handed Booksellers of London. Overall, I enjoyed it, and from the looks of it, there will be a sequel coming out sometime next year. I might look into that when the time comes. Also, I have made some progress with James Lovegrove’s Firefly novel, Big Damn Hero. I am enjoying that one rather nicely. The characters seem pretty accurate to what we saw in the show. I do kind of wish there was more source material for the book to refer to, but I really can’t complain too much. Other than that, I have read a good bit of Dr. STONE by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi. Last week I mention having read the first four volumes, and as of now, I recently finish volume 19 (the last one I currently have). It sounds like volume 23 will be released in English in October, and there are 26 volumes total, so I’m expecting I won’t be able to read the rest until next summer, if my estimates are correct for future releases. However, what I’ve read so far has been rather enjoyable, and I eagerly await the rest of the series.
For this week, I plan to continue drafting Book 11. My assorted ideas are coming together nicely, and I’m hoping they will also go on the page nicely. With regard to reading, I plan to continue Big Damn Hero. I have a few other in progress books that I will likely pick from for my next read, but we’ll see. I’m also still in something of a manga mood, so I might pick up My Hero Academia, since I do have a good number of those at home that I haven’t read yet. I also intend to post a review of the July 2022 session of Camp NaNoWriMo. That should be online later this week.
Camp NaNoWriMo has recently ended, and NaNoWriMo proper doesn’t start until November, but if you would like to add me as a writing buddy, my name on the site is fantasy_writer42, and you can find my profile here.
I think that’s everything for now! Thanks for reading!
