Update: Week of 6 Jun 2022

Hello, everyone! And welcome to June.

This was a pretty good week for me. My writing, plotting, and reading are all going well. On top of that, I mentioned in last week’s update that I was in a crafty mood. That apparently resulted in a Bob Ross-inspired (aka- I used his techniques, but generally winged the execution) digital painting. For my first painting in over a year, I’m pleased with how it turned out… I’ve actually got plans to do a bit more of that coming up, so I’m rather excited.

Book 11 is coming along nicely. It’s actually taking a bit of a turn I wasn’t quite expecting, but I’m pleased with how it’s going so far (and I’m only in the first couple chapters, so it’ll be interesting to see how some of this stuff carries through). I’m still making progress with the outline/timeline, and I’m slowly piecing together the worldbuilding that is going to be useful for both this book and the next one. The other stuff that has been coming to mind of late has been more along the lines of character revelation type stuff, so I’m pleased to see some of these developments in characters I haven’t had an opportunity to flesh out much in previous books.

With regard to reading this week, I’ve mostly been reading Brandon Sanderson’s Oathbringer. For the most part, I still like the things I’ve liked about the series. The things of which I’m less fond, I’m still less fond, but overall it is interesting. This third book of The Stormlight Archive is weaving together certain things that are interesting to see. I suspect the phrase “the plot thickens” is actually fairly accurate. I will say, so far, this kind of feels like a trilogy with the way certain characters and character arcs are shaping up, so I’m kind of curious what exactly happens in the next book (Rhythm of War), much less the fifth book which is yet to be released…

For this upcoming week, my plan is to continue drafting Book 11. Other than that, I want to put a good dent into the remaining plotting that I have to do. My reading will likely involve continuing Oathbringer. If I finish that this week, I have a handful of other books that I have recently started, and several others waiting in the wings. Beyond that, I suspect I will do something along the lines of painting or drawing, or something else suitably crafty.

That seems to be everything for this update! Thanks for reading!

~ Theresa
