Hello! I hope y’all are doing well! Hard to believe we are now at the end of May.
This week went rather well for me. I wrote a bit, and I plotted a bit. Other than that, I read a lot. Overall, I think I’ve made some good progress toward my current goals.
Book 11 is progressing nicely. I am currently working toward getting a little down each day while I work to flesh out the outline/timeline and figure out some of the more obscure pieces of worldbuilding that haven’t come into play much in the series. I get the feeling elements of what I am currently developing with get interspersed in the appropriate places earlier in the series so that key worldbuilding stuff doesn’t suddenly appear in the second-to-last book of the series. Additionally, I am trying to make sure I appropriately address the assorted things I’ve been preparing for over the last several books. For the most part, things are progressing nicely on several different fronts for this current book.
Reading for this week Included finishing Brandon Sanderson’s Words of Radiance. Overall, I enjoyed it. There were definitely some interesting developments in the last part of the book. After finishing Words of Radiance, I read the novella Edgedancer which focuses on the protagonist of one of the Interludes in Words of Radiance. Admittedly, that character is not my favorite POV, but the novella was interesting, and I can see why the intent is to read it between Words of Radiance and its sequel, Oathbringer. Speaking of Oathbringer, I did start reading that one. Currently, the books in Sanderson’s Cosmere I have yet to read are Oathbringer, Dawnshard (A The Stormlight Archive novella), Rhythm of War (The Stormlight Archive #4), and the Mistborn (Era 2) books. There are also a couple short stories I am slowly working my way through. Then I will be caught up on what is currently out. As for my non-Sanderson reading, I’ve started reading Diane Duane’s The Empty Chair, the final book in her Star Trek Rihannsu series about Romulans and Kirk and Spock and everyone.
This upcoming week, i plan to continue working on Book 11, and to a certain extent Book 12 with regard to plotting and such. I will likely be doing a combination of drafting, outlining/timelining, and worldbuilding. Reading will probably largely focus on Oathbringer, though I suspect I will also continue progressing through The Empty Chair. Other than that, I think I’m starting to get in something of a crafty mood… the obvious response to that might be knitting, but I’ve also been in the mood to draw lately, so I might pick that up again. If nothing else, I have no shortage of creative options.
I think that’s everything everything for this update! As always, thanks for reading!
~ Theresa
