Update: Week of 29 Mar 2021

Hello! I hope y’all are having a fantastic week!

This past week, I spent some time preparing for Camp NaNoWriMo. Camp takes place in April, so I’ve been working to finish my current book before then. The plan is to start the next book in the series for Camp. Since April 1st is Thursday, it does mean that I have a couple more days to get things organized on that front, as well as some last minute plotting.

I was able to get some good writing in this week, including another unexpected chapter. This one definitely flowed better than the last unexpected chapter. I think I have one more chapter to add to what’s in my outline. Other than that, I will have to see how the climax of the book will break into chapters. At least at this stage (the first draft), that sort of thing gets decided while I’m writing. I just kind of know when I hit a chapter break… Or the chapter ends up being three times longer than most of the other chapters. Either way, things can be adjusted as needed when it comes time for revisions. I do still have a good bit to go with this draft, and I may not quite finish it before Camp starts, but I should be able to get it fairly close.

My journey into digital Bob Ross painting is going well, if a bit slow. I get the feeling my pace will pick up as I get more practice, so for now, I’m just focusing on enjoying the experience. I managed to finish the painting I started last week, and I’m about halfway through another painting. If anyone would like to see them here, I can definitely see about posting them.

The book I have picked up most recently is called Soulbound by Bethany Adams. I’m about a quarter of the way through it currently, but so far, it is going down rather nicely. It is the first book in the series, so I’m sure there is a good bit of information that won’t be revealed in this book. That said, I’m enjoying the world and the characters. The pacing seems to flow well, and the plot is certainly engaging. It also has a variant of elves, which is always spiffy to see, and the action seems to be split between Earth and the land of the elves, Moranaia. There are certainly elements that are reminiscent of several other things I’ve seen/read, and I think that is definitely making things rather enjoyable as well. I am certainly looking forward to seeing where things go.

I think that about covers it for this update. Thanks for reading!
