Hello, everyone! I hope y’all are doing well. Hard to believe July is almost over.
This update is actually for the last couple weeks, since the last update was 4 July 2022. I was actually out of town for most of the past couple weeks, and I was out of internet range for about a week of that. The past few days since I got home have mostly been spent recovering after traveling and visiting with folks, and trying to get back into something of a routine. I am definitely glad to be back home. One consistent thing over the trip was that (despite some technical difficulties) I managed to write a little everyday to maintain my streak.
Book 11 is progressing nicely. Camp NaNoWriMo this month is progressing… not so nicely. Out of my original 50,000 word goal (which I expected to change since I knew I’d be traveling), I am currently at about 2,500 words. I will likely be adjusting my goal before the end of the month, but I haven’t decided what the final goal will be. As such, I plan to take the next couple days to assess things. I do have some exciting stuff coming up, so I’m hoping to get into some of that before the end of the month.
Reading for this week was mostly continuing Garth Nix’s The Left-Handed Booksellers of London. I am about a third of the way through that one, and I am enjoying it fairly well. I do have a handful of other books that are in progress (namely James Lovegrove’s Big Damn Hero and Brandon Sanderson’s Oathbringer), though I haven’t had much of a chance to read those since I’ve been gone.
My last project I’ve been working on this week is the greyscale-and-rainbow fisherman’s rib scarf that I’ve mentioned occasionally. I made some progress with that over this past week. I’m down to having a few rows left, and then I get to weave in all the ends. There are a lot of ends due to a lot of color changes… I am definitely excited to be near the end of this project, though it means I will have to find another project as my “every so often” project.
My plan for this upcoming week is to make a dent in my word count goal for Camp NaNo (and likely revise said goal), and continue drafting Book 11. Other than that, I’ve plan to continue reading The Left-Handed Booksellers of London. I suspect I will also read something else, but at this point, I’m not sure what that will be. As for crafting, I might actually finish my scarf this week, so that would be spiffy.
For anyone who will be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo this July, if you would like to add me as a writing buddy, my name on the site is fantasy_writer42, and you can find my profile here.
I think that’s everything for this update! Thanks for reading!
