Now, for the rest of this update. There are currently about two weeks until 1 Nov and the start of NaNoWriMo. I have made some progress on my current book, and I have read a little bit. Other than that, I wrapped up my early Huevember attempt, and I have been making my way through some Irish lessons. Overall, it’s been a pretty good week.
My writing this week has mostly consisted of continuing to draft Book 11. With NaNoWriMo quickly approaching, I plan to spend a good bit of the upcoming weeks drafting as much of Book 11 as I can, though I will likely not finish prior to the start of NaNo. As I mentioned in last week’s update, my plan for NaNo is shaping up to be “finish Book 11 and start Book 12.” Toward that end, I have been taking some time to focus on assorted characters. Some of that has been with regard to what is coming up in the next book. Some of that focus has related more toward their arcs as a whole over the course of the series. I am starting to focus a bit more on what I will need to address once I switch to editing mode for the series (now that I am working on the second-to-last book).
Reading for this week has been a bit light. Most of what I’ve read has been a bit of Sarah Lin’s Soulhome (Book 1 of her The Weirkey Chronicles). I am having a bit of trouble getting into the story, but there are some interesting ideas that I am looking forward to learning a bit more about.
My “100 Day Gaeilge Challenge” is going well. I’m three-quarters of the way through now, which is definitely kind of spiffy. I’m currently on day 76. This week seemed to be a fairly even split between reviewing previous material and learning new material. Overall, things seem to be going well.
For this upcoming week, I plan to continue drafting Book 11. I’m hoping to put a good dent in what I have left. I’m also planning to work with the outline/timeline for Book 12, in preparation for when I begin that. I suspect I will continue reading Soulhome, though I also have several other books in varying stages of “in progress.” I am going to try to post at least two (if not all three) of the remaining Early Huevember posts this week. I want to do a bit of preparation for the official start of Huevember (since I suspect I will be attempting it), but I’m not sure right off what those preparations will entail.
