Greetings! I hope this finds y’all well!
This past week went fairly well, if a bit differently than I originally intended. I did manage to write and read a little everyday. in addition to that, I’m still making good progress toward completing Book 10. Other than that, a good bit of time this week went toward an unexpected knitting project.
I wrote about 2,500 words this week, which I’m counting as pretty spiffy, all things considered. Perhaps the most important part about that is that I finished the chapter that was between where I finished NaNo last month and what I’ve been thinking of as the beginning of the end of the book. Now, I am prepared to start working on the chapter I’ve been looking forward to for almost a year, and it should be really fun. I’ve also got a good bit of this final section of the book pictured in my mind, so I suspect it will go fairly quickly once I start writing it.
I finished reading Diane Duane’s The Romulan Way this past week. The way the book came together at the end was rather pleasing. I am also making good progress with the current book I’m reading, Mercedes Lackey’s The Fire Rose. Like any adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, I am greatly enjoying this book. There are definitely some differences I’m noticing between this book and the books that came after the series was branded as The Elemental Masters. It’s actually kind of interesting seeing how the series started versus where the series eventually went.
Other than writing and reading, I mentioned that I’ve been doing a lot of knitting this week. I was trying to track down some knitting needles so I could start working on a pair of fingerless gloves. While I did eventually find the needles, I found some leftover yarn first, and at least some of that yarn works well for a scarf that I decided would be nice for the upcoming holiday season. As such, I decided to start working on it, with the intention to potentially finish it before this coming weekend when I get together with folks. I still have a good bit to go with the scarf, but I am about halfway through, which is actually rather nice. I’m thinking I should be able to finish it in the next couple days, which should give me time to figure out a good way to bind off the scarf so that it matches the start.
So, my plan for this week is to continue working on Book 10, continue reading The Fire Rose, and (hopefully) finish my current scarf. Beyond those items, I will also be visiting with folks, which should be a good time all around. I suspect a good bit of my time over the first part of the week will go toward knitting, so I’m not sure how far I will get with my other projects, but as long as I can continue doing a little each day, I am fairly comfortable calling this a success.
I think that’s everything I have for this update. Thanks for reading!
