Update: Week of 12 Sep 2022

Hello! I hope this finds y’all well.

This update is actually for the last couple weeks since I was attending DragonCon last weekend (1-5 Sep 2022). DragonCon is a fan convention that takes place in Atlanta, GA every year. These past couple weeks actually went about how I expected them to, all things considered. I mentioned in my last update that a good bit of the upcoming week would be preparing for DragonCon, and attending the event. That turned out to be true. This past week turned into recovering from DragonCon and trying to get back into something of a routine.

Speaking of a routine, I did actually take a week off from writing Book 11 (namely the five days of DragonCon, plus a couple). So most of my writing time was either prior to leaving for DragonCon or after getting home. However, I did still take the time when I wasn’t actively writing to think of assorted things to do for that book, as well as general writing things. Most of the panels I went to at DragonCon were actually about assorted elements of either writing or publishing, so at the very least, it was rather informative. I plan to post a review of my DragonCon experience this year. I did post A Review of Camp NaNoWriMo, July 2022 this week. It’s only a little later than I intended, but it’s been a busy several weeks.

Reading for this week was partly continuing Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere, and partly continuing the Harry Potter parody fanfiction “Oh God Not Again!” by Sarah 1281. Currently, I’ve just finished year 3 in the fanfiction, and I’m about to start year 4. I am definitely still enjoying it. Other than that, I’ve started reading Taken by Ben Meeks. It is the third book in his The Keeper Chronicles. Overall, I am enjoying it, and I’m curious to see how things wrap up over the final sixty pages I have left.

While I didn’t maintain my writing streak, I did manage to keep my Irish streak on Duolingo. I’m currently on Day 41 for the “100 Day Gaeilge Challenge” that I found on Twitter. I’ve still been trying to do at least one new lesson per day, though I did have a few days where I opted for more of a review.

This upcoming week should be interesting. I’m planning to continue drafting Book 11. I will likely finish Taken shortly, and then I plan to start reading a book by an author I saw at DragonCon. Michael R. Miller has a series about Dragonriders called The Songs of Chaos. The first book is called Ascendant. Admittedly, I don’t currently know much about the series, but I’m excited to find out. I’m also planning to continue working on my art skills. I’ve found a few different challenges that I think I’m going to try. At the very least, I’ll see where things go.

I think that’s everything for this update! Thanks for reading!
