Update: Week of 11 Oct 2021

Hello! I hope y’all are doing well. We’re now three weeks away from the start of NaNoWriMo 2021, so things should be getting fairly interesting as far as finishing the current book and preparing for NaNo.

This will likely be a bit of a short update, though the week did go fairly well. I got a good bit of writing done in the couple days last week before I went to see family, but the rest of the week had long/busy enough days that there wasn’t much time to actually do much creative stuff upon getting back to the hotel. It was definitely good to see people, though, and it seemed to be a good time all around.

I managed to write about 3000 words this week between Monday and Tuesday. And I got to share some information about my books to some assorted family members and friends, so that was spiffy. I also got a bit of inspiration for some of the stuff happening in the next book or two, so that was kind of nice. I do have about 13,000 words to go for this draft (out of the initially planned 50,000 words I set for my first drafts… this one may actually be a bit longer than that, but I’ll have to see how the last section shapes up).

As far as reading, I did not have quite as much time to read as I would have liked, but I did read a little bit of Jeff Wheeler’s Prism Cloud, and I read a couple chapters of Mercedes Lackey’s The Serpent’s Shadow. I am looking forward to how both of those stories will progress, and I’m thinking I will be able to make some progress with those this week.

For this upcoming week, I am hoping to finish about half of what I have left for the first draft of Book 9. Hopefully, as I get closer, I will have a better idea for the word count goal for that draft. Other than that, I’d like to plan a bit more of the final arc, specifically Book 10. I intend for Book 10 to be my NaNo novel for this year’s NaNoWriMo. Other than that, I’d like to read a bit more of Prism Cloud, and The Serpent’s Shadow. I’ve also got a few Star Trek novels, I’d like to look into. A couple of them are connected to The New Frontier series, and some of them have some really good development for the Romulans, from what I’ve heard. (The latest episodes I’ve been watching have had a good deal of Romulans).

If anyone would like to add me as a writing buddy for NaNoWriMo, my username is fantasy_writer42, and you can find my profile here.

I think that’s everything I’ve got for this update. Thanks for reading!
