Greetings, all! I hope this finds y’all well!
My last update covers a good portion of July, as I went on vacation for a bit. This past week has been spent trying to get back into my routine (such as it is). This past week also contained the final week of July’s session of Camp NaNoWriMo. I did reduce my goal from the initial goal (as I expected to). My reduced word count goal for the month was 5,000 words, and I did successfully achieve that goal, with a strong final day.
While I did not reach my attempted goal of 50,000 words, I did write everyday this month, even if it was only a little. Part of the 5,000 words I did write involved the majority of a particularly difficult chapter of Book 11, which I finished during my final push for Camp NaNo. The other part of the 5,000 words was a project that started out as a collaborative effort, which turned into more of an anthology based around a theme. The goal was to write a diary entry of a fantastical cat. Since I happen to have one such fantastical cat, the topic kind of fell into place for me. I’m not sure what the overall goal for that piece will be, but it was fun to write, and it gave me the opportunity to explore an element of my series that I haven’t done much with yet. Overall, I’m counting that as a win-win.
My reading this week was largely continuing Garth Nix’s The Left-Handed Booksellers of London. I’m now about halfway through it, and it is certainly interesting, though I haven’t quite figured out what to make of it. I have also read the first four volumes of Dr. STONE by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi. I have watched a good bit of the anime, and I’ve been looking forward to the manga. The only problem was that I was waiting for one of the volumes to be in stock again, so that I could close the gap in my collection. Now that the gap has been filled, I’ve been enjoying the story, particularly seeing assorted scenes that I really enjoyed in the anime.
For the upcoming week, I plan to continue drafting Book 11. I suspect that will go a bit smoother, at least for a little while, now that I am past the previous chapter. For reading, I expect to finish The Left-Handed Booksellers of London. I also have a feeling I will be reading a good bit more Dr. STONE, and other than that, I have a handful of in-progress books that I’ve been meaning to get back to for couple weeks. In addition to all of that, I might actually get around to finishing the rainbow-and-greyscale scarf that I am really close to finishing. We’ll see.
Camp NaNoWriMo is over for now, and NaNoWriMo proper doesn’t start until November, but if you would like to add me as a writing buddy, my name on the site is fantasy_writer42, and you can find my profile here.
That seems to be everything for this update! As always, thanks for reading!
