Hello, everyone! I hope this finds y’all well!
This week was rather productive. I got some good writing done. I got some good reading done. Overall, I am pleased with how things went.
I am still making progress with Book 11. The draft is coming along a bit slower than I’d like, but I am at least getting a bit down everyday. There are still several plot elements I am pondering over as I try to flesh out the outline/timeline, but those are starting to fall into place. As I’ve been working on the draft, I’ve been coming across assorted things that I’ll need to address, so I’ve got a nice little list of things to set on the timeline.
My reading this week included finishing Diane Duane’s Honor Blade. It was pretty good, overall, though I dislike the fact that it ended on a “to be continued…” The last part of the book had several different plot lines escalating toward something big, and then it stopped before it actually got to the something big. Definitely not my favorite way to end a book. That said, I’m looking forward to the last book in the series, The Empty Chair. I have also started reading Words of Radiance, the second book in Brandon Sanderson’s The Stormlight Archive. Not gonna lie… my favorite part so far has been that Vasher (one of the characters from Sanderson’s Warbreaker) shows up in a decently substantial role. I very much like Vasher (called Zahel in this series), so I’m getting a kick out of him being there. As far as the rest of the story goes, I’m assuming things are going well. I’m only 550 pages in so far (out of 1300), but several plot lines are starting to converge, which should be interesting.
My plan for this week is to continue working on Book 11. Similar to this past week, this will likely be a combination of drafting, outlining/timelining, and working on the deep-dive into how the magic system affects different people. Reading will likely be continuing Words of Radiance and starting The Empty Chair. Beyond those, I do have Maelstrom by Bethany Adams in the queue.
That seems to be everything for this update! Thanks for reading!
