Update: Week of 28 Feb 2022

Hello, everyone! I hope this finds y’all well!

My week was decently productive. I almost finished the chapter I that I mentioned in last week’s update, and I’ve gotten a bit more plotting and worldbuilding done. That last part was largely thanks to February Album Writing Month (FAWM), which is also going well (and ending on the day I’m writing this post…). I also had fun with my reading for the week.

I am almost finished with my current chapter of Book 10, after which I will have three chapters to go for this first/current draft. So far, it is progressing nicely. I’m also continuing to flesh out the outline/timeline for Book 11, which I intend to start fairly soon after finishing Book 10. I’ve also come up with some spiffy worldbuilding elements with the help of FAWM. It seems likely that I won’t be including the full songs in the actual book, but I definitely have plans to reference a few of them in assorted books throughout the series. (It also seems likely that I will potentially be including the songs in appendices to the books, but we will see how that goes once I get closer to that point.)

My reading for the week included a bit of a surprise. I did make some progress with Jeff Wheeler’s The Queen’s Poisoner, and I finished Vol. 1 of the “Collector’s Edition” of Fruits Basket. I definitely enjoyed the story, and I get the feeling I will be picking up the rest at some point soon (not that I don’t have plenty of other things to read in the mean time). As for the surprise reading that I mentioned earlier, I saw a post that mentioned the television show Wishbone, about the lovely Jack Russell terrier who goes on all kinds of literary adventures… That post made me a bit nostalgic, and I knew I had a few of the Wishbone Mysteries books. I decided it might be a nice read, and so I picked the earliest one of the handful I own, namely #3: Riddle of the Wayward Books by Brad Strickland and Thomas E. Fuller. It turned into a fun little read. I’ve got plans to pick up some more of the books when I can.

As for FAWM, I am pleased with the progress I have made this month. At this particular moment, I’ve gotten thirteen songs written, and I thoroughly intend to write another before the month ends tonight. As such, I am inclined to call this FAWM a success for several reasons. On the one hand, if everything goes well, I will have satisfied the condition of writing fourteen songs in twenty-eight days. On the other hand, I will have gotten some fantastic worldbuilding, which I am certainly pleased with. I am definitely thinking I will be writing songs for my future series to learn more about the assorted cultures.

This upcoming week should be good. I plan to finish my current chapter of Book 10, and possibly more than that. I also plan to plot more of Book 11 so that that is ready when the time comes. With regard to reading, I plan to finish The Queen’s Poisoner. Other than that, it seems likely I might pick up another of my Wishbone books. Otherwise, I intend to wrap of FAWM, and I will likely be posting a review of how my first FAWM went later this week.

For more information about FAWM, you can check FAWM.org. My username is fantasywriter42, and my profile can be found here. I don’t currently have my songs available to be read, but you can see what other people have managed to come up with during the month.

I think that’s everything I’ve got for this update! As always, thanks for reading!

~ Theresa
