Hi, everyone! Welcome to another weekly update!
This week, I’ve continued working on Book 10, and I’m liking the progress I’m making on it. I’m also most of the way done reading Mercedes Lackey’s The Fire Rose. Other than that, I started working on another scarf using some of the leftover yarn from other projects.
Things are still going well with Book 10. Occasionally, I am reassessing how particular story elements are playing out, which overall takes a bit of time, but with regard to individual reassessments, I think the time is warranted. Things are going fairly smoothly. I’m also continuing to plot some of Book 11 as pieces of the story fall into place during this end section of Book 10. In addition to my work on my current series, I have also been doing some preliminary work to flesh out some other story ideas I’ve had on the back burner, if you will. Since I’m coming up on the end of drafting for the current series, I’m trying to make sure I have some other ideas ready to go. That way I will have something I can draft while I work on editing the current series. I’m definitely excited to see how these other ideas shape up.
I am about three-quarters of the way through Mercedes Lackey’s The Fire Rose. So far, it is pretty good. It is definitely interesting when I notice the differences between this ‘prequel’ and The Elemental Masters series proper. I also have recently gotten the next couple books in the series (numbers 3 and 4), so I’m looking forward to those. I’m also slowly making my way through The Queen’s Poisoner by Jeff Wheeler. Having read his The Harbinger Series, I’m definitely intrigued to see how his ‘expanded universe’ works. I think he’s got three or four somewhat interconnected series, which is always a spiffy concept.
My current knitting project is actually a modification of a two-color fisherman’s rib scarf. Instead of two colors, I’m actually using opting for stripes with greyscale on one side and rainbow on the other. So far it’s a pretty cool effect. I’m about a quarter of the way through that scarf. I get the feeling i will make more progress with it this week, but it is unlikely that I will finish it… Unless I end up in a decent knitting mood, which has been known to happen.
This week, I plan to do a good bit of writing. I’d like to finish at least another chapter or two of the current draft. I also plan to continue plotting Book 11 so I will be able to start working on that once Book 10 is drafted. As for reading, I’ve got two books I’m currently working my way through, and I think I will at least be finishing The Fire Rose, and I think I can put a decent dent in The Queen’s Poisoner. Other than those books, I’m not sure what might be next. I do have quite a few to choose from, so I suppose I will see what fits my mood then. I’m also looking forward to knitting. It is nice having something I can do with my hands while watching shows or movies.
I think that’s everything for this update. Thanks for reading!
~ Theresa
