Hello! Happy NaNoWriMo 2021 for everyone who is participating. Happy November to everyone who isn’t.
I am extremely pleased with how much I was able to get done this week. My first draft of Book 9 is longer than I anticipated (I am actually still working on it), but I did get a lot done with it. I’ve even been able to get off to a great start on NaNoWriMo today. I got a bit of plotting done for the final arc, and I managed to read a little bit. Overall, I can’t complain.
Over the course of the week, I was able to add about 10.5k words to my draft of Book 9. I was also able to add another almost 2,000 words to that count after midnight, thus putting me slightly ahead of schedule for NaNo. (The daily goal for 50,000 words in 30 days works out to 1,667 words per day.) I’m also planning to write a bit more after finishing this post. Beyond that, I have been able to get a good bit of planning done for the final arc, especially since I was able to refine one of the plot lines that is taking shape at the end of the current book. While I was hoping to start NaNo off with Book 10, I am ecstatic with how the month is going so far.
I am still reading the Star Trek novel, Double Helix: Double or Nothing by Peter David. I haven’t gotten too far into it yet, but it has been nice seeing certain characters from The Next Generation show up in the books.
For this upcoming week, I plan to finish the first draft of Book 9 and start the first draft of Book 10… The week may have other plans for me, but one thing is certain, words written at a NaNo pace tend to add up quickly. I also have some refinement I would like to make to my outlines, and I plan to keep working my way through Double or Nothing. I’m sure I might end up with other things to do, but at the very least, I suspect this week will be good.
If anyone would like to add me as a writing buddy for NaNoWriMo, my username is fantasy_writer42, and you can find my profile here.
That’s it for this update. Thanks for reading!
