Hello! Welcome to another fine week!
For those of you who are participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, I hope your projects are going well, and you are making progress toward your goals. (I feel this is probably a good time to mention that any progress toward your goal is more than you had at the start of this month, and if needed, Camp NaNo does allow you to change your goal for the month at any time.) For everyone with non-Camp NaNo projects, I hope those are going well for you, as well.
This has definitely been a good writing week for me. The word count isn’t quite where I’d like it, but I’m definitely making progress. Depending on how this week goes, I might be adjusting my goal, but for now I figure I’ll leave it where it is. I find it to be good for motivation. I’ve also spent some time this week puzzling through some of the yet-to-be-determined points for the final arc of this series. Those pieces are definitely starting to come together in rather exciting ways.
As for reading, I finished Dark Allies, the Star Trek: New Frontier book by Peter David that I started last week. I am also continuing my slow read through Stephen King’s On Writing. Other than those two, I started reading Redwall by Brian Jacques. One of the things I’ve heard about it is that he is really good with descriptions of food. I’ve got to say, that does become rather evident rather quickly. So far it is a pleasant read, and I’m looking forward to reading more of it.
To satisfy my crafty side, I’ve been doing a lot of knitting. The current scarf is one that I started earlier this year, and I picked it up last week. After making a lot of progress on it, it should be finished with only a couple more hours work on it. I plan to post pictures of it when I get it finished.
I’ve also taken up drawing again over this past weekend. I took a bit of a hiatus, and decided it was time to pick it up again. When I started drawing last year, I asked a friend of mine to send me pictures to draw. I think every one of them were some form of anime. Some of them were screenshots from the shows/movies, some were fan art. All things considered, it has been a fun exercise and a good way to get some practice in. The last picture my friend sent was of Gaara from Naruto. While the picture is spiffy, it has definitely been a bit of a challenge to get the pose translated to my sketchbook. This past week, I made a bit more of a conscious effort to make progress on it. I still have some details to add to it, but I’m happy to say that it is almost done. With luck, I’ll be able to send it to my friend later this week.
My plan for this week is to continue my assorted creative endeavors. I’m hoping to make a good bit of progress with Book 9 and the final arc of the series. I should also make it through Redwall, and possibly another book, once I pick what’s next. Additionally, I should have both a finished scarf and a finished drawing of Gaara by this time next week.
