Update: Week of 19 Sep 2022

Hello, everyone! I hope y’all are doing well!

This past week was definitely a bit interesting for me. Writing and reading are both going well. I’ve also continued learning Irish. The part of the week I wasn’t quite expecting is with regard to painting. I mentioned in last week’s update that I had been looking into some art challenges. One of them that came up was Huevember, which I had seen over the last few years but never really done anything with. The official challenge is in November, but I figured I’d do a test painting… I had such a blast with that, I decided to do more. So far, I’m eight days in out of the thirty days of the challenge, and I’m learning a lot.

Writing has been going well. Since resuming my daily writing after my break the previous week, I’m making progress. Admittedly, since I’ve been painting a lot this past week, most of what I’ve been doing is puzzling through assorted plot and character elements. I do think things are coming together nicely, and Book 11 is coming along. My current plan is to finish it before NaNoWriMo starts on 1 Nov, which should be doable.

Reading for this week was mostly finishing Taken by Ben Meeks. It was the third (final?) book in his The Keeper Chronicles. Overall, I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about that series. There were some things that were interesting, and others that I was less fond of. I’m also not sure what to make of the fact that the last book kind of simultaneously feels like it’s the end of a series and like there are a lot of big, unanswered questions.

My “100 Day Gaeilge Challenge” is still going well. I’m currently on day 48. Most of what I’ve been doing has been working my way through the Irish lessons on Duolingo. While it’s not quite as much as I’d like to be doing, I do still feel like I’m learning a good bit.

This upcoming week seems like it will be busy, but I’m excited. Currently, I’m planning to continue drafting Book 11. For reading, I plan to start Ascendant, the first book in Michael R. Miller’s The Songs of Chaos. Other than that, I suspect I will be continuing my impromtu/early Huevember run.

That seems to be everything for now! As always, thanks for reading!
